MOUNT PLEASANT, NY—Town officials officially reopened the Mount Pleasant pool and community center after two seasonal employees tested positive for the coronavirus.

Following a successful inspection Friday, the Westchester County Department of Health gave the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department the green light to reopen.

Last Wednesday, town officials learned that two lifeguards employed at the town pool had tested positive for COVID-19. The town immediately closed its pool facility and contacted the Department of Health to begin contact tracing, officials said.

"The town was fortunate that only a small number of employees came into direct contact with the affected seasonal employees. These employees are being required to quarantine for fourteen days by the Department of Health. Several employees who have felt concerned have been tested, and to date, no additional positive test results have been reported," town officials said in a news release.

According to town officials, the affected seasonal employees were not aware that they had contracted COVID-19 upon entering the workplace but informed their immediate supervisor as soon as they learned that they had contracted the virus.
