Obituary: Phyllis Anne Gracer, Retired Briarcliff Teacher

Phyllis Anne Gracer (nee Stromberg) passed away on March 12, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Lester Stromberg and Ida Winokur, Phyllis centered her life around education and family.

After working in several NYC Public Schools, she took a position in the Briarcliff Public School District in 1972 and taught 4th grade at Todd School for over 24 years. During that time she actively developed new curricula and brought the world to her students, while constantly learning new things herself.

Phyllis married Franklin Gracer in June 1963, and they settled in Yorktown Heights, NY.

In addition to her teaching work, she was an avid artist and traveler.

She is survived by her two sons, David and Lawrence; and by three grandchildren – Kyle, Sawyer, and Zachary. Services were held at King David Cemetery, Putnam Valley, NY on March 17, 2023.
