Obituary: The Rev. Harold Theriault, Longtime Pastor In Briarcliff

The Reverend Harold Theriault, of Congers, NY died on November 7, 2022. He was 89 years of age.

Fr. Theriault became a priest on May 28, 1960, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC, and was ordained by Francis Cardinal Spellman. His first assignment as a priest was at the Holy Name Center in the Bowery. After a short time, Fr. Theriault was assigned to the parish of St. Vincent DePaul in Manhattan, then to St. Theresa’s Church in Briarcliff Manor, NY., followed by becoming pastor at St. Sylvia’s Church in Tivoli, NY. Covering a total of 62 years of service to the Lord.

Fr. T was born August 6, 1933, in North Tarrytown, NY to Ernest and Berthe Sylvestre Theriault.
He was the Chaplain with the Briarcliff Manor Volunteer Fire Department, and served the local hospitals and nursing homes.

He is survived by many cousins in the United States and Canada, as well as many longtime friends.

His funeral Mass was held on November 16, 2022, at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Sleepy Hollow. Interment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
