Opening Day: Springing Ahead!

Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturdays, 8:30am - 1:00pm

Each week now the Pleasantville Farmers Market will show aspects of an exciting new season to come! This week (and next) we have Sharper Harper back. At last, Himalayan Delish will return with Momo dumplings. All you folks that asked about Buddhapesto for the last month, this Saturday is your day to shop (they're in weekly now). We have a fantastic group of returning vendors, and really interesting new vendors joining them to offer items like UK themed savory meat pies, real tempeh, Soukup Farms maple syrup on a weekly basis, a new vineyard, and an inspiring new produce farm.

Every spring when we launch our season with improvements I highlight that this could not happen without months of dedicated volunteers and passionate producers working together to position Pleasantville as one of the most exciting locations in our wonderful, regional food system. And all that preparation only has value thanks to customers like you, shopping the Market to provide support for your farmers and food artisans, while creating healthy, tasty meals for you and your family. Ok... here's some details:

Some vendors are back Saturday after time away:

Buddhapesto, Himalayan Delish, Simply Planted Greenhouses, Strudel House, & Sharper Harper (4/6 & 4/13).

Others arrive soon:

Spirits Lab on 4/20, Little Seed Gardens on 4/20, Fjord Vineyards (5/4), Puras Paletas (5/4), The River Garden (5/4), and Wright's Farm (5/25).

Other vendors, on rotation or limited attendance in winter, are back with more frequent participation:

Chaseholm Farm Creamery (weekly), Kriemhild Dairy Farms (2nd & 4th Saturdays), -- and this year we have Red Barn Bakery and Strudel House as weekly vendors.

And some vendors, new during the winter season or starting this spring, certainly are a valuable addition to the Market:

  • 4/6: The Cracker Workshop visits with deliciously sourced, unique crackers and cookies; and Hells Onions arrives with spicy onions in hot sauce (think relish with an attitude).
  • 4/13: Grown In Brooklyn will offer excellent tempeh; Eltee's Goods visits with tomato jam and unique baked items; and Braised Pies brings UK themed savory meat pies and sweets!
  • 4/20: Maple Syrup Day! This year we have new Soukup Farms visiting with maple syrup, candy, sugar, cream and more! Then, on a weekly basis in 2024 shoppers can obtain Soukup Farms' syrup at Hudson River Apiaries' table.
  • 4/27: Milea Estate Vineyard joins visits at our winery tent for the first time!
  • 5/25: New Mimomex Farm will join with fresh and affordably priced veggies from the Black Dirt region of Orange County, NY.

Regular hours are back: 8:30am - 1:00pm, and Saturday's weather looks good -- see you at the Market!

VENDOR HIGHLIGHTS

Sharper Harper is back on 4/6 and 4/13 to sharpen your knives while you shop.

Trotta Foods is highlighting that they have a new online preorder system. Browse their delicious offerings, place preorders, arrive for a fast pick up! To begin, visit their site by clicking here.

Tivoli Mushrooms reports they will have foraged wild fiddles, nettles, and ramps again this week! And the morels are just beginning...

Edgwick Farm doesn't just produce soft goat cheese from its own goats' milk, it also makes aged hard goat cheeses like Sackett Ridge (its goat milk cheddar) and Firthcliffe (an aged, ash rinded goat cheese similar to Humbolt Fog). You can sample both of these aged cheeses at Edgwick's market table this Saturday.

With Teagevity you can enjoy a hot cup of tea, coffee, or hot cider at the Market. On the go? Choose from their 16oz. bottles of Tea2go with favorite iced teas such as Hibiscus Pineapple, and Blood Orange & Hibiscus. You can also shop for loose tea (2oz. kraft bags) and roasted coffee beans (8oz. kraft bags) to take home.

Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse carries a full line of sourdough breads. Their Medieval Levain is an example of the best of local grains and sourdough methodology. The recipe begins with their whole rye starter begun in 2003. Using sourdough's ancient method of leavening allows a tremendous amount of flavor to develop during a long fermentation period, which also allows the fullest nutrition to be available in the finished product. The whole rye and whole wheat flours Bobolink uses are grown in our region, by the wonderful River Valley Community Grains! Stop by to get some of Bobolink's wood-fired sourdough bread, sold by the chunk and available in plain, olive, or garlic versions.

Hilly Acres Farm will be at the Market with a large assortment of pork, beef, chicken, and fresh brown eggs. They're highlighting a special price on their delicious beef short ribs this week.

Cooper's Daughter Spirits will visit this week and is highlighting their Black Currant Liqueur. The vodka for this liqueur is made with 100% NY apples and then it is infused with locally grown black currants to create a tart, complex, and otherworldly liqueur. Black currants contain the darkest pigmentation found in nature. At the distillery they've nicknamed this potent liqueur the “flavor bomb!” All you need is a splash to add intense flavor and a POP of color to your mixed drinks!

COMMUNITY SERVICE &

ZERO WASTE!

The composting station at the Farmers Market was started by a Girl Scout for her gold award. It is our community’s job to keep it going when it returns in April. That’s why we are looking for students to volunteer at the composting station. For your help, you will receive community service hours. The composting station is there to decrease the amount of trash produced by the Farmers Market. That includes helping members of the community place their items in the correct bin. To sign up as a volunteer CLICK HERE and add your name to whichever shifts you can volunteer. Then fill out the Market's waiver for volunteers with this LINK. If you have any questions you can contact the Zero Waste Station Coordinator at jadyn@seredin.com. Thank you!

VILLAGE JOB POSTING:

2024 LOT COORDINATORS!

The Village of Pleasantville provides two Lot Coordinators each Saturday to manage the arrival of shoppers to the Market's main parking lot at Memorial Plaza. These service professionals help welcome our customers and ensure their safety. The Village is hiring to add more Lot Coordinators to our team for 2024.

If you think you'd like to join us on Saturdays please review the Village's Lot Coordinator job posting!

Visit Pleasantville Farmers Market and double your SNAP dollars! The Pleasantville Farmers Market happily accepts SNAP/EBT benefits -- and now you can double your SNAP dollars (up to $40) thanks to a generous grant from our local hospitals, Phelps Hospital and Northern Westchester Hospital, both part of the Market's Lead Sponsor Northwell Health. Simply bring your SNAP card to the Managers Tent at the entrance to the Market where we can swipe your card to exchange the amount of benefits you wish to use as $1 or $5 SNAP Market coins.
