Pace Volleyball Adds 5 Recruits

After the Setters won conference quarterfinals this past season, Head Coach Karrin Moore looks for new players to solidify the team further.

Five freshmen will be joining the Pleasantville-based Pace University volleyball team in the fall, the Department of Athletics announced today.

"I am really excited about the five incoming student athletes for 2013," said Head Coach Karrin Moore in a statement. "They will be a great addition to the solid foundation of hardworking returners. I expect them to challenge the current players, and am excited to see the competition level go up in the gym."

The athletes are:

Miki Carver (Oceanside, CA) — setter
Said Moore of Carver, "Miki has a great release as a setter. She is quick on her feet, and has a high volleyball IQ. I am looking forward to seeing what she can do with our offense."

Ashley DiFulvio (Lakewood, CO) — libero/defensive specialist
Said Coach Moore, ""Ashley will be a great addition to our defense this year. She has a great read on the ball, and is very athletic. I am looking for her to make an immediate impact in the back row."

Samantha Harting (Irvine, CA) — middle blocker
Moore noted, ""Sami is a tough, explosive player. Her fast swing and solid blocking abilities will be a great asset to both sides of our game. I am looking for her to make an impact in the middle this year."

Vy Tran (Aurora, CO) — setter
Said Moore of Tran, "Vy has great hands, and very good location as a setter. Her natural instincts will help us run a solid offense this year."

Kayla Witwer (Southlake, TX) — outside hitter
Moore said, "Kayla will make a great addition to our pin hitters. She has solid blocking abilities, and is a court smart hitter. I expect her to make an immediate impact on either of the pins this year."
