Pace Women's Basketball Falls to Dowling

OAKDALE, N.Y.- The Pace women's basketball team fell to the Golden Lions of Dowling College 50-31 in non-conference action. The Setters fall to 6-4 on the season, while the Golden Lions improve to 8-2 overall.

The Setters got on the board to start the game on a Margo Hackett (Pawling, NY/Pawling)triple in the first minute of play. The Golden Lions netted the next 11 points to take an 11-3 lead at the 13:21 mark. Dowling held the lead for the rest of the opening half as they took a 23-10 lead into the break.

Jessica Scannell (Cork, Ireland/St. Vincent's) hit a pair of trifectas early in the second half to pull Pace to within nine points at 25-16, while Hackett's hoop at the 12:56 mark, sliced the score down to seven points at 27-20. The Golden Lions answered with a triple as they held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.  

For Pace, Scannell finished as the leading scorer with 11 points along with three assists and three rebounds. Brittany Shields (Cold Spring NY/Haldane) grabbed a team-best seven rebounds, while Hackett totaled seven points in the game.

The Setters are back in action on Saturday, January 5 as they will travel to West Haven, CT for a Northeast-10 Conference game against the University of New Haven at 3:30 pm.
