PHS Students Selected to Perform in Westchester and All-State Music Festivals

Nine vocalists and six instrumentalists from Pleasantville High School will perform at SUNY Purchase on November 10.

Nine vocalists and six instrumentalists from Pleasantville High School have been selected to perform in the Westchester Area All-State Concert to be held at SUNY Purchase on November 10. The top high school musicians in grades 10-12 participate in this annual event.
Performing in the chorus are Kellie Allen, Michael Bloom, Marc Darmohraj, Karina Florio, Sonya McGaffey, Lyndsey Minerva, Katherine Stargiotti, Carter Tanis, and Benjamin Trombetta. They are pictured with chorus teacher Kathleen Donovan-Warren. Selected to the orchestra are Charlotte Berg (violin), Akimoto Cornelius (violin), Samantha D’Angelo (viola), and Gregory Hunter (double bass). Daniel Schuster (trumpet) and Andrew Skrzypczak (bassoon) are in the band. The instrumentalists are pictured with orchestra teacher Mary Ann Meade; not pictured is band teacher Thomas Heintzelman.
Additionally, Kellie Allen, Katherine Stargiotti, and Benjamin Trombetta will perform in the chorus at the New York State School Music Association’s All-State Festival in Rochester, December 1–4. Marc Darmohraj was named as an alternate to the chorus.
Selection to All-State is the highest achievement that a high school musician can attain within New York State. Last spring, over 6500 students throughout the state competed for 890 positions in eight All-State ensembles.
