Here's a look at what happened during Pleasantville Court's January 8 criminal session.

Hearing Set in Strangulation Case

Tyrell Jones, an Ossining man accused of assaulting a village resident and police officer, has a hearing scheduled for this evening.

Jones, 34, was first arrested on June 1, 2012, and charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Trespassing in the Second Degree and again on Aug. 19, 2012, when he was accused with six criminal charges—Aggravated Criminal Contempt, Burglary in the Second Degree, Strangulation in the Second Degree, two counts of Assault in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest.

Assistant District Attorney Michael Ashraf said he did not anticipate a felony hearing in the cases, but a grand jury hearing, scheduled for 6 p.m. this evening.

Ali Offered Probation

Wasim Ali of Pleasantville appeared to answer to charges of filing a false robbery report and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree appeared in village court on January 8.

The 59-year-old allegedly told police he was robbed at knifepoint while working at a village gas station in September.

In court, Ashraf said he would likely offer a misdemeanor plea and a probationary sentence at the next court date.

The case was adjourned to January 22 at the defendant's request.

Grand Larceny Defendant Appears

A 43-year-old village resident* appeared in court after being charged on December 13 with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree.

An order of protection was previously issued by the court. The case was adjourned until January 22 at the defendant's request.
