Pleasantville Farmers Market is OPEN Saturday (rain, shine, or brrrrr!
Visit Memorial Plaza to shop the Market, Saturdays, 9:30am - 12:00pm

The current forecast for Saturday indicates a high chance of low temps, and a lot of CHUTZPAH!
And while some precipitation may occur overnight Friday that should not affect Pleasantville Farmers Market's ability to be open. If things change we'll share an update late week.
One of the interesting facts of winter-growing (as done in unheated tunnels by Maple View Farm and Gajeski Produce) is that if protected, tender greens can freeze and then thaw, without damage to the plants. A lack of air movement is key. An unfortunate constraint affecting Maple View this week is that those greens cannot be harvested while still frozen (as they'd not restore) and the week's temperatures are not bringing their plants above freezing. Thus Maple View will have to be absent on 1/20 due to being unable to harvest.

Gajeski Produce, located on Long Island, does not have that issue this week. By not having all our mesclun in one basket, the Market's able to sustain shopper access to lettuce mix, baby spinach, arugula and other greens. Brian Gajeski will set up a heated space for walk up shopping of all his veggies, and it appears most our vendors will be in attendance too.
Celebrate the care and passion of your farmers and food artisans -- make a quick trip to the Market Saturday for ingredients to enjoy an inspiring week of warming dishes such as roasted veggies, soup, roast chicken, meatloaf, baked potatoes, and more. See you at the Market!

Lead Sponsor Northwell Health Tip:
Meghan Holmgren, Managing Editor at Northwell Health, learned an easy way to create vegetable stock. "As I chopped, I tossed all my veggie scraps into a container on my counter. Once I had a few cups' worth stored up, I just dropped the contents into a slow cooker with water, put it on low, and viola! Twelve hours later I had vegetable stock with no salt or additives." Brought to you by Northern Westchester and Phelps, your local Northwell hospitals.
Market Intern Program
The Market is accepting applications from area students, grades 8 - 12, for the our winter Intern Program. For information email info@pleasantvillefarmersmarket.org.

Gajeski Produce has items for walk up shoppers including fresh mesclun, fresh herbs, scallions, leeks, Brussels sprouts, and well-stored squash, potatoes, and roots vegetables.

River Valley Community Grains will be in with their line of grains produced regionally using regenerative methods.
Hudson River Apiaries has a number of beeswax candles, cast in all sizes and shapes, and they have traditional tapers too. Beeswax candles smell great and give off less smoke than conventional candles.
Will Himalayan Delish set up to produce dumplings to eat at the Market Saturday? Depends on the weather. Either way shoppers can still obtain their dumplings, frozen-to-go, by stopping by the Orwasher's tent. Take home a bag of frozen dumplings and steam for 18 minutes to enjoy them as a meal this week (plenty of delicious sauces are included). Ideally, bring an insulated bag to tote your dumplings home.
Teagevity provides a line of traditional loose leaf and herbal fruit teas to take home. They offer their popular red iced teas in convenient Tea2Go containers. And at the Market, in addition to teas and coffee, they're serving hot cups of apple cider too.
Shop Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse for artisanal cheeses produced with milk from their grass-fed free-roaming cattle, and delicious rustic breads from their wood-fired oven.
Trotta Foods offers fresh pastas, delicious pasta sauces, and a diverse line of soups and heat-and-eat meals.
Both Noble Pies and Red Barn Bakery will be in with their excellent sweet and savory baked items.
