Gathering latent fingerprints, trying on firefighter gear and performing CPR were among some of the first responder skills Pleasantville Middle School students practiced last week.
Members of the all-volunteer Pleasantville Fire Department and Ambulance Corps, along with Pleasantville and Count Police and the Westchester District Attorney's Office were on-hand Thursday and Friday to teach a number of skills to students as they rotated stations.
Educators organized the special program as a way for students to learn about the roles performed by emergency responders—especially after the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting and Boston Marathon bombing.
The two-day series of thanking local heroes ended with demonstrations by two Westchester County Police K-9 members, Saratoga and Trinity.
