Pleasantville Police: Please Lock Your Car

Car thefts and thefts from cars have been on the rise recently.

PLEASANTVILLE, NY — Many stolen cars and car break-ins during overnight hours have been taking place recently, Pleasantville police said.

"We once again remind you that unlocked cars are a welcome target for crimes of opportunity," police said in an email to residents. "Unlocked vehicles, especially those with the key fobs left inside and / or valuables in plain sight, invite criminal behavior."

It's not just you who are the victim, they said. "Successful crime invites increased criminality."
