Police Find Gun Secreted In Car's Steering Column
Westchester County cops stopped a vehicle that had fled from police earlier Wednesday.

MOUNT PLEASANT, NY — Westchester County Police and multiple police departments in Westchester coordinated in the successful and safe stop of a vehicle which had fled from police earlier in the day and the recovery of a loaded firearm.
The vehicle was stopped on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Mount Pleasant and two subjects were taken into custody.
Further investigation by officers and detectives assigned to the Conditions Unit, Intelligence Unit and Narcotics Unit revealed a firearm secreted in the steering column and a loaded magazine on the driver's side floorboard. Additionally, the vehicle was equipped with a motorized stealth license plate flipper to conceal the rear license plate.

The driver was charged with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in the third degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree for the loaded firearm. The passenger was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree - loaded firearm, police said.
