Severe Storms Knock Power Out To Thousands Friday Afternoon In The HV

Storms are expected off and on through the weekend. Here's the latest.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The severe storms that came through Friday afternoon sending a tree crashing onto a school bus full of homeward-bound kids and flooding susceptible areas also knocked out power to thousands.

  • At 8:15 p.m., NYSEG reported 5,411 out in Columbia County, 1,438 in Putnam, 941 in Ulster, 839 in Orange, 11 in Dutchess and 1 in Westchester.
  • Cen Hud reported 4,995 out in Ulster, 2,546 in Dutchess, 1,457 in Orange and 154 out in Putnam.
  • O&R reported 1,567 out in Orange and 840 in Rockland County.
  • Con Ed reported 147 customers out in Westchester County.

In Monroe, Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather collected 5.21" of rain, mostly between 3 and 5 p.m.
