Storms First, Then Sunny Holiday Weekend: Hudson Valley Forecast

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — There's a chance we could get thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening, but then the holiday weekend looks to shower sunshine on all who celebrate Easter, Passover and Ramadan across the Hudson Valley.

As the threat of severe weather in the mid-Atlantic region ends, cooler and drier air will arrive Friday. Temperatures will fall into the low 30s at night.

"But high pressure means sunshine and calm weather will co-host," said Alex Marra of Hudson Valley Weather.

Here's the four-day forecast from the National Weather Service based on northern Westchester:

• Thursday - Areas of dense fog late this morning. Mostly cloudy late this morning, then partly sunny with a chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds this afternoon. Visibility one quarter mile or less at times late this morning. Not as cool with highs around 80. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph this afternoon. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Tonight - Mostly cloudy. Showers likely with isolated thunderstorms in the evening, then a slight chance of showers after midnight. Some thunderstorms may produce gusty winds in the evening. Lows in the mid 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
• Friday - Partly sunny. Much cooler with highs in the upper 50s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph.
• Friday Night - Mostly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
• Saturday - Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 50s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Saturday Night - Partly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the lower 30s.
• Sunday - Sunny. Highs in the mid 50s.
• Sunday Night - Clear. Lows in the lower 30s.
