Patch wants to make your life a little bit easier. Here are a few things to keep in mind today in Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville:

1. Local award-winning storyteller Jonathan Kruk will be at the Mount Pleasant Public Library from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. to entertain kids ages four to eight with tales of rainbow dragons, fairies and spiders. Call the library to register in advance: 769-0548.

2. There's a new hibachi restaurant opening on Route 9A in Hawthorne to replaced the recently-closed Gasho of Japan. Hida is now hiring. Check out more recent local job listings here.

3. August's weather will kick-off with scattered thunderstorms and showers Thursday, and temperatures in the mid-70s. The UV index remains high, however, so remember to apply sunblock.

4. Yesterday's most-read story is Grieving Families: ‘None of Them Saw the Barge’; Parents Ask for Public’s Help. Read the narrative here.

5. No matter what age or developmental stage, kids benefit from engaging in educational, recreational, and cultural activities with their families and friends. Check out the Mental Health Association of Westchester's suggestions for summer fun, in their latest blog post.
