Here are some things to keep in mind this week:
1. During its Monday, July 29 meeting, the Briarcliff Manor Board of Education will be discussing two committees during a work session—an energy committee and long term planning committee.
The Board will later entertain a resolution charging the Energy Committee with "working with the district’s administration to assist it in exploring energy savings and efficiencies and green initiatives..."
The Board's entire agenda is available on the district website.
2. Given the late school year start, the Village of Briarcliff Manor will extend its pool season through Labor Day week. Village Manager Philip Zegarelli said in his latest report that the pool will be open from 12 to 6 p.m. after September 2.
3. A revised 2013-14 academic year calendar for the Pleasantville Union Free School District reflects a change in a Superintendent's Conference Day. The schools will now be closed on October 11 instead of October 4.
4. Pleasantville's Wisteria Gifts will be closing this week. Stop by before July 31 for 50 percent discounted merchandise.
5. Briarcliff Manor is continuing hydrant flushing off water mains this week, beginning Monday, on Scarborough Station Road, River Road, Linden Circle, Albany Post Road and the nearby side streets—Beechwood Way, Creighton Country Club, Woodlea Lanes, Ivanhoe Place, Union and Requa Streets, according to Zegarelli. Look for Department of Public Works crews in these areas between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. through Wednesday, weather permitting.
