Wind Gusts, Freezing Temps, Possible Snow Flurries In Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A cold front blew in from Canada overnight, bringing scattered snow flurries, gusty winds and nighttime temps below freezing.

"This will result in windchills much colder at times through the day, winds don’t subside fully until overnight," said the meteorologists at Hudson Valley Weather. "Can’t rule out a rogue snow squall especially across western and northern zones as some fingers of lake effect meander to their western limits."

As the cold front moved in overnight, gusts reached as high as 47 mph. Here's the National Weather Service's town-by-town report:

• NEW ROCHELLE - 36 MPH
• PEEKSKILL - 36 MPH
• TARRYTOWN - 35 MPH

Through the weekend, temperatures will rest mostly in the 40s during the day and in the 20s at night — except for Saturday, which will be milder but also rainy.

"if you put off your Griswold Family Christmas tree hunt last weekend because of the weather, then Saturday won’t be your day," Hudson Valley Weather said on Facebook.

• Thursday - Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 40s. West winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
• Thursday night - Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 20s. West winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph, diminishing to around 5 mph after midnight.
• Friday - Sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Friday Night - Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of rain after midnight. Lows in the mid 30s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph after midnight. Chance of rain 20 percent.
• Saturday - Rain, mainly in the morning. Highs in the mid 50s. Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.
• Saturday Night - Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 20s.
• Sunday - Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 40s.
• Sunday Night - Mostly cloudy in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 20s.
