Wintry Mix, Below Freezing Temps in Pleasantville, Briarcliff

Briarcliff Manor and Pleasantville schools to be dismissed before noon today.

Local schools are letting out early today as weather forecasts call for a mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet—all before 4 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, today's high is near 32 degrees and winter weather advisory and hazardous weather outlook are in effect.

NWS predicts the freezing rain to continue until approximately 9 p.m., to be followed by a "a slight chance of drizzle after 1 a.m."

Daytime snow accumulation shouldn't top once inch, and no additional ice is expected during the overnight hours.

The Pleasantville Union Free School District announced in a K-12 Alert this morning, "The Pleasantville UFSD will have an early dismissal at 11:30 a.m. on January 28, 2013. All afterschool activities are canceled."

In Briarcliff Manor, the district will be letting out its middle and high school students at 11 a.m., and Todd Elementary School students at 11:45 a.m.

All after school activities and evening events, including the board of education meeting, have been canceled.

For Ossining students, AMD and OHS will let out at 10:30 a.m. and all elementary schools will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

Travel

Metro North issued the following alert today, "Please take care when traveling during inclement weather and allow for additional travel time. Customers should use caution when entering and exiting trains, and on platforms and staircases."
