First Thursday Night Lights: Kids Night

Where/When: Briarcliff Manor Pleasantville Road Business District on Thursday, June 6 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Why go: The Briarcliff Manor Chamber of Commerce is throwing its second First Thursday Night Lights event of the season, featuring samples and discounts from local businesses all evening. The theme of this month is all about kids and will feature a cookie scavenger hunt.

The Underground Railroad in Pleasantville: New Discoveries

Where/When: Mount Pleasant Town Hall (1 Town Hall Plz.) on Thursday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m
Why go: Pace University Professor and Pleasantville resident Dr. Doreethee von Huene Greenberg will be speaking at the Mount Pleasant Historical Society's monthly meeting about two residents who helped aid fugitive slaves during the Civil War era. Pleasantville Farmers’ Market Happenings

Where/When: Memorial Plaza in Pleasantville on Saturday, June 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why go: In addition to its weekly selection of vendors, the Pleasantville Farmers’ Market is offering a few special events this week. From 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Blues duo Barebones will be performing live. During that same time, local pastry chef Laura Anderson will be leading a make-your-own demonstration. Finally, chefs from two new Pleasantville restaurants—Bistro 146 and Bhog—will lead culinary demonstrations using market ingredients from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Children's Music Concert

Where/WhenMount Pleasant Public Library on Sunday, June 9 at 2 p.m.
Why go: Marvin Rosen and Jennifer Castellano will perform selections from their first CD, Child in the Garden: Contemporary Music for the Piano 4 Hands. Refreshments will be served.

33rd Annual Ossining Village Fair

Where/When: Downtown village, at Main and Spring streets just off Route 9 on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why go: There will be 170 food, craft, merchandise and organizational vendors and booths; four entertainment stages; children's rides, games and entertainment; dunk tank and "best slice" contest at the Ossining PBA booth; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a blood drive at the nearby Community Center.
