5 Ways to Stay Cool in Port Jefferson
Skip the beach – it's too darn hot. Here are a few other options.

We've got two words for you: air conditioning. With temperatures still sweltering, it's imperative that we all stay cool. You might want to skip the beach, where direct sunlight and quickly-warming waters won't help you much. With that in mind, here are a few ways to stay cool in and around Port Jefferson.
1. Port Jefferson Free Library/Comsewogue Public Library. You'll find both cool temperatures and cool activities indoors at the library.
2. Get Frozen. Yogurt, that is. Check out places like Red Mango, Yogo Delish, and Swirls & Twirls. Other sweet-and-cold options are The Frigate and other ice cream spots in downtown Port Jefferson and Tropical Smoothie Café in Port Jefferson Station.
3. Go Hollywood. PJ Cinemas is a great place to cool down while taking in a hot summer flick.
4. Shop 'Til You Drop. Indoor places like Harbor Square Mall and Smith Haven Mall, as well as grocery stores and many mom-and-pop shops, provide a good way to escape from the sun.
5. Culture is Cool. Check out some art at Imagine Gallery and the Village Center.
