After Arrest Earlier This Year, Speedy Mart Passes the Test

Man previously arrested at Port Jefferson Station convenience store sold for allegedly selling alcohol to a minor in April.

Earlier this year, a clerk at the Speedy Mart convenience store on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station . On Thursday night, police went to seven area businesses, including the Speedy Mart, and this time it passed the test, refusing to sell alcohol to a minor during the undercover operation.

Police say that they sent two underage volunteers into the businesses with the intent to purchase alcohol.

A clerk at Citgo Gas, located at 1258 Route 25 in Selden failed the test and sold alcohol to one of the police agents. Sahin Nayci, 48, of Holtsville, was arrested and charged with unlawfully dealing with a child.

The six other businesses on the list including the Port Jefferson Station Speedy Mart and some others from Centereach, Coram and Medford checked for proper identification and refused to sell alcohol to the minors, according to police.

Nayci is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 9.
