Arthur Olsen, Former Port Jefferson Fire Chief, Dies At 85
He joined the department in 1952.

Arthur Olsen, an ex-Chief in the Port Jefferson Fire Department who joined 66 years ago, died yesterday. He was 85.
Olsen, who joined the department in 1952 as a member of Rescue Engine & Hose Co. 3, rose to the rank of Captain and then on to Chief of Department from 1976 to 1978. He also served as a long time Fire Commissioner for the District.
"Olsen leaves behind a large void in all of our hearts and will be missed dearly. He was a true staple in our community, being involved in many other organizations in addition to the Fire Department," the department said on Facebook.

Visitation will be at Bryant Funeral Home on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 9 p.m. with Firematic service at 8 p.m. Bryant Funeral Home is located at 411 Old Town Rd. in East Setauket
A service will be at the Methodist Church on Main Street in Port Jefferson on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
