Here are the top four stories in Port Jefferson today:
- Democrat Kathy Hochul will keep her New York governor seat, becoming the first woman elected to the post in New York state. The NYS 2nd Senate District race is over, with Mario Mattera winning against Susan Berland with 58,471 votes. You can find the full story here. (Smithtown Patch)
- Port Jefferson School District announced the final tour through the school facilities to decide the bond referendum is scheduled for Nov. 17. It's a one-hour session that will start at 7 p.m. Residents are asked to meet at the main lobby of the middle and high school. (Port Jefferson Patch)

- "Suffolk County Board of Elections workers had difficulty loading memory cards needed to tally the final vote in key races — including the gubernatorial race with incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul and U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin, as well as hotly-contested congressional districts." (Patch)
- Village of Port Jefferson released the Loose Leaf Pick-Up Schedule. According to a note on the village's website, it no longer provides leaf bags. All residents who want their bags to be collected must place them in biodegradable bags. Check the schedule here. (Port Jefferson Patch)
