Cops Investigating Graffiti Threat Near School

Graffiti threats at a playground near a Port Jefferson Station school warranted Suffolk County Police response on Tuesday, however authorities did not determine the markings to be an immediate threat to schoolchildren.

According to Suffolk Police, shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a call was received noting graffiti at a park adjacent to John F. Kennedy Middle School. 

"Threats were made to JFK students. The threats were not specific with dates or times," according to police.

Authorities noted that the markings appeared to be written with permanent markers and "not fresh so police believe the threats were made several days ago."

Police did not provide details about the threats, however a report on Examiner.com noted that the markings, "referenced a bomb and said 'kill JFK school kids.'"

Police are investigating the incident, and the Brookhaven Town Parks Department – which oversees the School St. Park – have been notified. The middle school was not put on lockdown as a result of the incident.
