Like Uber and Lyft, community members can call a car on a mobile app or wave down a car on the street. Cars will be available from Thursday to Sunday and they will drive people anywhere in the coverage area.

According to Qwik Ride, the plan is to have five cars in Port Jefferson by Spring.

During the winter months, carts will operate Thursday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to midnight.

Qwik Ride also offers local businesses to advertise on cars, which they say will "cause people to turn, point and say 'wow.'"
