Press release from the Port Jefferson School District: July 27, 2022 Earl L. Vandermeulen High School held a commencement ceremony that was a cause for celebration. As the Class of 2022 was being commended as the most recent alumni of the high school, the Port Jefferson Fire Department alarm sounded. Six students – Shane Hartig, Kasumi Layne-Stasik, Ryan Parmegiani, Andrew Patterson, Peter Russo and Hunter Volpi – firefighters for the community fire department, sprang into action.
