Your guide to what's happening today.

Good morning Port Jefferson. Here’s a look at what’s happening in the area on Wednesday.
- Bring the kids for a cool treat – where they'll learn something, too. The Maritime Explorium's event today is "The Science of Ice Cream" set for 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (creation of ice cream will take place at approximately 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.).
- Weather-permitting, there will be a free "History of Cedar Beach" talk by the town historian at the beach starting at 6 p.m. Registration required by emailing egerle@brookhaven.org.
- However, it looks like rain will be making its way back to the area tonight, with a 60 percent chance of showers tonight, according to the National Weather Service. Showers and thunderstorms are likely through Saturday.
