LIRR Service Disrupted From Gas Main Break In Port Jefferson
Service was restored on the line at around 11 a.m. Port Jefferson officials advised residents to avoid the area.
PORT JEFFERSON, NY — A gas main break disrupted Long Island Rail Road service along the Port Jefferson branch on Tuesday morning, officials said.
Delays on the Port Jefferson Branch between Port Jefferson and Stony Brook due to fire department activity along the tracks in the area was reported by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority at about 9 a.m.
Service it was restored at around 11 a.m., the agency said.

Side streets in the vicinity were also shut down while National Grid worked to restore service with Port Jefferson Village officials urging residents to avoid the area until further notice.
