Port Jeff Senior Aileen Schretzmayer To Run Track In College

She is off to Denison University in September

The Port Jefferson School District announced recently that senior Aileen Schretzmayer was awarded a scholarship to Denison University and will run on the women's cross-country and track and field teams.

According to the district, the scholarship recognizes Schretzmayer's "academic achievement and leadership potential."

Denison University competes in the North Coast Athletic Division III Conference.

During her time at Earl L. Vandermeulen High School, Schretzmayer has taken honors, college-level and Advanced Placement courses and has an interest in the arts, which led her to attend a pre-college portfolio development program at the Art League of Long Island this past summer.

Her running career includes many highlights starting in seventh-grade including MVP honors, a coach’s award, All-League, All- Division, a state meet qualifier and undefeated in league meets in both 800m and 1500m as a junior.
