Here are the top four stories in Port Jefferson today:

  1. Stony Brook University presented the results of four years of studies to prevent flooding on the South Shore. The proposals include the installation of sea gates around the inlets on the Long Island South Shore and other projects. The solutions for the issue would require high investment to be fulfilled. It's yet to be determined if any of these proposals will be approved. (News 12 New Jersey)
  2. Brookhaven Town's Polar Plunge participants will freeze for a reason on Saturday at Cedar Beach. All event proceeds will go towards athletes' training, health supplies and more. The event is set for 9:30 a.m. for registrations and plungers will jump in the water at noon. A pre-party will be hosted on Friday at Recipe Seven Cocktails & Kitchen at 275 Rte. 25A, Miller Place. (Port Jefferson Patch)
  3. Mark on the calendar for the Port Jefferson Station Community Tree Lighting on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a hot chocolate and a performance by the BackStage Dance Studio.
