Here are the top four stories today in Port Jefferson:

  1. Safety was one of the topics discussed at the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Civic Association meeting held at Comsewogue Public Library on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Civic vice president, Sal Pitti, addressed the increasing number of catalytic converters thefts on Long Island, calling it a "multi agency" that is spreading to upstate New York and other states in the U.S. Read the full story here. (TBR News Media)
  2. Police responded to a call over what could be a "Halloween prank" on Sunday on Townline Road in Hauppauge. Someone threw a pumpkin at a moving car and smashed its windshield. Nick Costi was the driver of the damaged vehicle and said he saw an orange blur and glass being shattered. No arrests were made and police continued investigating the incident. (News 12 Brooklyn)
  3. Port Jefferson School District’s Peer Leadership Club made sure many kids dressed up for Halloween this year. The club collected and donated costumes for local children. Ms. Kristin Britt and Mrs. Melissa Zinger said the collected items were given out to Port Jefferson's based "Give Kids Hope" Thrift Store and donation center. (Press Release Desk)
