Sophomore Katherine Ranjbar presented her research, "Impact of Imperfection Spin Resonance Strength on Depolarization in RHIC," to experts of the subject area.   3. Save the date for Port Jefferson Easter Parade and Egg Hunt! On April 17 at noon, lots of Easter fun activities will be offered for the community! The parade will be an Old-Fashioned ‘Easter Bonnet’ Walking Parade and will start in front of Theatre Three. (PJCofC)
  4. Trustee Tom Pirro was elected Old Field's mayor. Pirro was elected with 139 votes. “I’m looking forward to working as a team for the benefit of the village and its residents,” said Pirro in an email a day after his election. (TBR News Media)
  5. Nearby News: A woman was struck by a SUV while crossing North Bicycle Path in Coram. The crash happened on Tuesday, March 14, around 7:30 p.m. The woman is identified as Merlin Martinez. After the accident, she was transported to Stony Brook Hospital where she was pronounced dead. (Daily Voice)

  • "A Rocky Point man was charged with driving while intoxicated Tuesday night after police said he crashed his SUV twice while driving the wrong way on Route 25A. Suffolk police said John Madden, 49, was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of the highway in East Shoreham when he hit a 2020 Subaru at 8:42 p.m. He drove off, continuing in the wrong direction, and then hit a 2013 Chrysler about a quarter mile away, police said. That crash occurred at 8:45 p.m., near North Country Road in Rocky Point, police said." (Newsday/Subscription Required)
  • "Long Island's Republican New York State senators say they are striving to save lives by challenging New York's bail reform law. Senators Phil Boyle, Alexis Weik, Mario Mattera, and Anthony Palumbo were joined by State Sen. Mike Martucci on Wednesday at the Brentwood Fire Department to introduce 'Billy's Law,' which would authorize bail and pre-trial detention for all arson felonies, a press release said." (Patch)
