  1. Port Jefferson indoor Farmer's Market set for January. Support the community and shop locally on Sunday, Jan. 16., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at The Village Center Farmer's Market. Located at 101 E Broadway, Port Jefferson, fresh produce from local farmers and other goodies will be available. (Port Jefferson Village)
  2. Classes and community services are temporarily canceled at Mather Hospital. Due to the presence of COVID-19, Port Jefferson MH is canceling all community events until it's safe to be together.   3. Port Jefferson Library Trustees have announced one seat on the Board is due to expire. Election day will happen on Jan. 12 from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Voting will be by paper ballot. Trustee Jennifer Schaefer, elected in 2021 to a one-year seat, will not be seeking re-election. To be eligible to vote in the election, a person must be at least 18 years old and a member of the Port Jefferson Free Library and have a library card in good standing. (Port Jefferson Free Library)
  4. Nearby News: Driver killed in Central Islip head-on crash. Suffolk Police is investigating a fatal head-on crash that killed a man in Central Islip on Jan. 2. A man was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on West Suffolk Avenue when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford Mustang, driven by Fernando Cordero, head on in front of 101 West Suffolk Ave. Police said the driver of the Toyota was transported to a hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352. (Islip Bulletin)
