Here are the top four stories in Port Jefferson today:
- Port Jefferson-based nonprofit Maryhaven Center of Hope is celebrating the acquisition of $5 million in grants to support the repairs group. The center has offered educational programs and housing for disabled adults in more than twelve homes since 1929. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
- Are you looking for a fun weekend outing in Port Jefferson? The classic "A Christmas Carol" is now happening at Port Jefferson Theatre Three. Tickets are on sale for the spectacle that will be on stage through Dec. 30. "Barnaby Saves Christmas" is also playing until Dec. 30. - CrossFit will host a Turkey Trot Run / Walk 5k at Heritage Park on Nov. 19. at 10 a.m. Food and refreshments will be offered. Tickets are $10 per person. A nonperishable food item donation will be collected to help a hundred families this Thanksgiving. So just to let you know, all ages and levels are welcome to participate. (Eventbrite)
- Army Veteran, Joseph Annunziata, returned to Stony brook Hospital to thank the staff for helping him while suffering a stroke on Veterans Day. Annunziata felt weakness on the side of his body while driving to the store and quickly reached out for help. Doctors said the veins of his brain were blocked and they used a new technique to clear them up. (LI News 12)

- Port Jefferson Station Community Tree Lighting is set for Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a hot chocolate and a performance by the BackStage Dance Studio. This event is hosted by the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce and will be held at the Train Car Park.
