Press release from the Port Jefferson School District: Jan. 24, 2023 The Port Jefferson varsity wrestling team has qualified for the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Dual Meet Championship. After a tough loss in the Division 2 Suffolk County finals to Elwood-John Glenn, 32-27, the Royals qualified for the At-Large Bid for the state tournament. This is determined based on the number of returning All-County wrestlers, wrestlers with more than 20 wins and overall team record.The Royals are seeded seventh out of 12 teams in the Division 2 tournament. The team will compete in the dual meet championship on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the SRC Arena and Events Center in Syracuse, New York.<hr />This press release was produced by the Port Jefferson School District.
