Here are the top four stories in Port Jefferson today:

  1. The Dickens Festival weekend in Port Jefferson features live performances and much more in the Village! One of the side attractions is the "Festival Of Trees" and the train displays. Thirty-two trees decorated by local businesses will be set up on the second floor of the Village Center. The Reeds Family's train models can be visited at the Harbormaster’s Building at 130 W. Broadway. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
  2. A group of Port Jefferson residents participated in the last Board of Brookhaven Planning Board hearing and expressed concerns over the project to build thirty-three houses around a toxic plume. An environmental study in the area has been requested before the project starts. Another concern was the effects on the traffic the construction would cause. A voting meeting is expected in the following weeks. (News 12 Brooklyn)
  3. Port Jefferson high school students visited the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery as part of their science assignments. Some fertilized eggs were collected during the visit and brought to the school, which will be conserved by students as an encouragement to care for the environment and sensitive species. 4. Photo Gallery: Did you attend the Port Jefferson annual Christmas parade last weekend? The pouring rain did not stop the community from seeing "Santa Claus" marching on Main Street. Click on the link to check twenty pictures of the event. (Greater Long Island)
