Village Postpones 50th Anniversary Picnic Until Sunday

Celebration originally planned for Saturday at noon.

Citing wet grounds from Tropical Storm Andrea, the village of Port Jefferson has postponed its planned 50th Anniversary Family Picnic in Harborfront Park until Sunday. Originally set for Saturday afternoon, the celebration marks 50 years since the village was incorporated in 1963. (The vote to incorporate was held in December 1962 but because of court challenges it did not become official until April 1963, according to village historian Ken Brady.)

Text from note emailed from the village is posted below:

"Due to the storm and very wet ground conditions, the 50th Anniversary Family Picnic in Harborfront Park is postponed to Sunday, June 9, noon - 5 pm. See You There!! 'Our Generation' Band  Face Painting, Cotton Candy Balloon Artist & Much much more. A Special Outdoor Showing of Mary Poppins at Dusk. Call (631) 473-4778 for additional information.'
