Sands Point Preserve

Join us for the third year of our Wilderness Survival series! Ideal for beginners and seasoned enthusiasts alike, this series is led by survival enthusiast Mike Evans. Dive into essential survival skills, from emergency preparedness to advanced bushcraft techniques, exploring key concepts like the Rule of 3s and the 5 Cs. Perfect for those starting their journey or looking to deepen existing skills, these workshops offer a platform to learn, share experiences, and connect with a community passionate about self-sufficiency and nature.
These workshops are for adults, but children 14+ are welcome with an accompanying adult. Programs are held outdoors, so dress for the weather.&nbsp; Bring sturdy footwear, gloves and&nbsp;a hand towel to each event.
Register for individual workshops, or the entire series.Admission (includes parking and all fees): Members: $40 per class / $316 for series Nonmembers: $45 per class / $362 for seriesPlease note, tickets are nonrefundable but can be transferred.

About the instructor:
Michael A. Evans is the founder and CEO of Synchronicity Coaching Inc., a Long Island–based organization dedicated to helping people connect mind, body, and community through experiential learning. Under the Synchronicity umbrella, Michael has created and led programs across multiple disciplines — including Forgotten Skillz (ancestral crafts and sustainability), Ninja Née (STEM and science adventures for kids), and Vision Martial Arts (child development–based martial arts training).
With a background in coaching, education design, and holistic wellness, Michael blends science, history, culture, and hands-on exploration to make learning meaningful and accessible for all ages. Certified guide Linda Lombardo leads&nbsp;monthly sessions of this relational practice that lowers cortisol, improves cognitive function, boosts your mood and energy, and most of all, grounds you so you are better prepared in your daily life to manage whatever might come your way.

In 2026, the acclaimed chamber music series Four Seasons in Music celebrates its eighth season under the inspired direction of Artistic Director Kathryn Lockwood. Set amidst the breathtaking beauty of The Preserve’s historic Hempstead House, Castle Gould, and picturesque waterfront grounds, this distinctive series presents four seasonal concerts. Each performance weaves together music and poetry, inviting audiences to connect deeply and reflect meaningfully throughout the year.
The Preserve’s ensemble-in-residence duoJalal (Kathryn Lockwood and Yousif Sheronick) is joined by a rotating roster of internationally celebrated musicians. Together, they deliver dynamic performances spanning classical masterworks by Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart to works by today’s globally diverse composers. Each concert concludes with a themed reception, inviting guests to mingle with the artists and fellow music lovers in an atmosphere of warmth and community.
