β’ Potsdam Police Blotter, Dec. 16 (northcountrynow.com) β Potsdam police issued a traffic ticket to a local resident for an alleged seat belt violation on Market Street, with a court date set for January 7. Officers also handled numerous property checks, traffic stops, citizen assists, and harassment complaints throughout the village, including calls on Lawrence Avenue, Elm Street, and Market Street.

β’ Flu on rise in St. Lawrence County, Schools see high absenteeism due to illness (northcountrynow.com) β Flu cases and hospitalizations are climbing across St. Lawrence County, with schools in the Potsdam and Ogdensburg areas reporting unusually high student and staff absences from illness. Local hospitals have been strained, and health officials urge residents to get vaccinated, wash hands frequently, avoid sick contacts, and stay home when ill to help slow the spread.

β’ Warren "Red" George Reed Sr., 91, Hermon (northcountrynow.com) β North Country readers are mourning Warren βRedβ George Reed Sr., a Hermon resident who was born in Potsdam in 1934 and passed away Sunday at age 91. The longtime Newton Falls Paper Mill worker, Army veteran, and avid outdoorsman is remembered by his wife Madeline, four children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with private calling hours planned for family.
