Holidays on the Farm: The 49th Annual Holiday Exhibition
When: December 10, 2025 - February 22, 2026. Open Wednesdays-Fridays &amp; Sundays, 12-4 pm (but closed December 24, 2025-January 3, 2026)

The winter season through most of 18th and 19th centuries in Rockland County began with the holidays of Christmas and New Year’s. These holidays had both secular and religious significance for county residents. Between them they created a holiday week during which the regular routine of farm chores was enlivened by special foods and festivities. In the 49th Annual Holiday Exhibition, "Holidays on the Farm," we explore our county's rich agricultural heritage, highlighting unique features of the holiday season.

We will be having a Blue Christmas service on Sunday, December 21st at 5:00 PM in the Sanctuary.&nbsp;The overly bright lights of Christmas can be oppressive, intensifying our sadness, stress or anxiety.&nbsp;Held on the Winter Solstice (longest night of the year), our Blue Christmas service is quiet and reflective, acknowledging our grief and offering hope.&nbsp;This is a space to bring whatever you’re feeling to God, and find love and support.&nbsp;

South Salem Presbyterian Church

The Sanctuary Series celebrates the Holiday Season on Sunday afternoon, December 21, 2025 with "Noel, Noel—Baroque highlights of the season," with Anthony Newman, organ, Mary Jane Newman, piano, and David Glukh, trumpet, presenting a festive holiday program featuring radiant works of Johann Sebastian Bach, and including the Newman Fugue in C Major and beloved Baroque masterpieces to lift the heart and spirit in the Sanctuary of the South Salem Presbyterian Church at 4 PM.
Labeled the “High Priest of Bach” by Wynton Marsalis, Anthony Newman is considered America's leading organist, harpsichordist and Bach specialist. Most recently, he was named Laureate First Place at the 4th Edition WNYLE International Piano Competition in Finland. His wife Mary Jane Newman is an acclaimed pianist, organist and choral conductor, as well as artistic director of the series.
New for this year, Mr. Newman will be joining his wife as co-artistic director.While the series will remain “piano-centric" featuring extraordinary keyboard performances in the intimacy of the Sanctuary, several of the recitals programmed for the spring will showcase extraordinary young, talented, instrumentalists. While she thanked the church for their continued support in hosting the series and looking forward to the spring, Mrs. Newman can't wait for December 21 and the chance to "celebrate the season with music of inspiration and joy in our beloved series.”
South Salem Presbyterian Church is at 111 Spring Street, South Salem, NY, just 4 miles West of the fountain in Ridgefield CT. Advanced tickets are $25 for general admission, $40 for preferred seating and $10 for students when purchased in advance on the Series website www.thesanctuaryseries.org ($30/$50/$15 at the door).
