PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A Flatbush Avenue eatery has been named one of the 20 best Italian restaurants in the city, according to Eater.

Fausto — found on the border of Prospect Heights and Park Slope near Eighth Avenue — was chosen this week for Eater's ranking of "New York City’s 20 Top Italian Restaurants."

The foodies praised both old and new sit-down restaurants that have mastered the art of Italian cooking. More than half of the list was found in Brooklyn.

"As the birthplace of red-sauce, Italian American cooking, there are plenty of top-notch options in the five boroughs, and these days, it can feel as is if all of Italy is represented here," they wrote.

Other than Fausto, Brooklyn eateries that made the list included longtime staples like Bamonte's in Williamsburg, Park Slope's Al Di La Trattoria and Ferdinando's Focacceria in Carroll Gardens, the city's oldest Sicilian restaurant.

Southern Brooklyn favorites like Randazzo's Clam Bar in Sheepshead Bay, Michael’s of Brooklyn and Joe's of Avenue U in Gravesend also got a shout-out.

Here's what the foodies had to say about Fausto:

"The warm, orange-hued space of Fausto features a menu from chef and owner Erin Shambura that rotates regularly based on the nearby Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket — though the crowd-favorite pasta, an orecchiette with pork and wilted greens, is usually available. Many of the dishes lean simple, like a little gem salad or a bone-in pork chop with garlic scapes. The staff is friendly, and Fausto is good both for eating solo at the bar with pasta and a glass of wine or for brunch and dinner when family’s in town."
