BROOKLYN, NY — A woman is in critical condition after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in a Crown Heights street, police said Monday morning.

The 36-year-old woman was crossing Pacific Street near Buffalo Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday as a Mercury Mountaineer backed up on the street, according to the NYPD.

The driver hit the woman at the intersection and then sped off, police said.

First responders rushed the pedestrian to a nearby hospital where she remained in "critical" condition, the NYPD reported Monday morning.

As of Monday the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad is still looking into the crash, and no arrests have been made, police said.
