2 Workers Die At JFK Trapped In Trench: FDNY

QUEENS — Two workers died at John F. Kennedy Airport after they were trapped in a trench on Monday morning, FDNY said.

Officials underwent an emergency rescue just after 11:25 a.m., bringing 12 units and 60 firefighters to JFK Airport, FDNY said.

The workers were found dead, officials said.

"A stop order for all construction at JFK has been issued," the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said in a statement. "The Port Authority is conducting a thorough investigation and will be cooperating with all other investigative agencies."

The emergency caused delays in Terminal 5 and Terminal 7 at the airport, according to a tweet by the airport.
