Kidnapped Teen Held Hostage In Queens Basement: Feds

Dennis Reyes Mora, Alexander Cruz, and Cindy Aleman Fernandez stand accused of tying up and torturing a New Jersey teen, court records show.

QUEENS — A Queens home became a torture chamber for a kidnapped New Jersey teenager who was held hostage for several days earlier this month, prosecutors contend.

Dennis Reyes Mora, 37, Alexander Cruz, 26, and Cindy Aleman Fernandez, 27, stand accused of tying up the teen, 18, in a 94th Street basement from March 17 to 21, according to New Jersey U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger.

Reyes, Cruz, Aleman, and another person kidnapped the 18-year-old after a drug deal went wrong in Delaware, according to Sellinger.

The trio then duct taped and stabbed the teen during the drive to the basement in Queens, prosecutors said.

The 18-year-old was burnt with cigarettes, beaten, and tortured in the basement before the teen’s family paid a ransom for their child’s release, prosecutors said.

The kidnappers tried to get rid of some of the evidence by removing and cleaning the seats of the car where they stabbed the 18-year-old, according to the U.S. attorney.

The charge of conspiracy to commit kidnapping carries a maximum potential penalty of life in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, according to Sellinger.

Reyes, Cruz, and Aleman are all from Brownsville, Brooklyn.
