Forest Hills Family-Focused Nonprofit Receives $450,000 gift: Report
A foundation granted the Child Center of NY $450,000 to propel its Cash+Community Works Initiative, according to QNS.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS – A nonprofit organization in Forest Hills that serves underprivileged families received hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding, according to QNS.
The William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Foundation granted the Child Center of NY $450,000 to propel its Cash+Community Works Initiative, which helps low-income families through cash assistance and peer networking.
“The foundation was struck by the potential of this model to accelerate family economic mobility,” David Donahey, chair of the foundation’s DIG Committee, told QNS. “It is an interesting departure from traditional family support programs because it is entirely community driven and connects families to networks and financial capital that others take for granted.

The organization’s program will help 300 families in Queens and Manhattan over the course of its three-year pilot phase, according to the report.
Eligible participants of the program must live in or close to the neighborhoods of Elmhurst, Corona, Far Rockaway, or East Harlem.
