George Santos' Latest Challenger Is A Personal Injury Lawyer

Greg Hach, a lawyer and Air Force veteran from Long Island, said he's running because voters "were conned by a crook and serial liar."

QUEENS, NY — Accused serial liar and legally embattled Rep. George Santos has a new challenger for his Queens and Long Island congressional district seat: a personal injury attorney.

Greg Hach, an Air Force veteran and partner at a Manhattan personal injury firm, announced Tuesday that he'd join a crowded Republican primary against Santos.

Hach wasted no time attacking Santos, who wrested the Third District from Democratic control in November, before voters widely knew accusations that he's a fraudster.

"I am running for Congress because honorable third district voters were conned by a crook and serial liar," Hach said in a statement. "I am running to restore integrity to an office that's been corroded by fraud."

Santos has largely avoided directly addressing accusations against him such as that his résumé was largely fabricated or he took $3,000 from a GoFundMe for a veteran's dying dog.

After federal prosecutors in May charged with 13 counts including financial fraud, money laundering and false statement, Santos pleaded not guilty and tweeted "WITCH HUNT!"

Several Republicans besides Hach have declared their intent to challenge Santos in the next primary, including Kellen Curry, Daniel Norber and Mike Sapraicone.

And at least a half dozen Democrats have similarly started to mount campaigns to regain the Third District seat for their party.
