Man Convicted After MTA Bus Shooting In Jamaica Leaves 2 Injured: DA
Melvin Adams, 45, was charged with attempted murder for shooting two passengers aboard an MTA after missing his intended target.

QUEENS — A man from the Bronx was convicted after a shooting in 2021 left two MTA bus passengers injured in Jamaica, prosecutors said.
Melvin Adams, 45, was charged with attempted murder for shooting two passengers aboard an MTA after missing his intended target on Jamaica Avenue near 148th Street on Aug. 5, 2021, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said Monday.
Adams faces a possible sentence of 25 years in prison, and he is scheduled to come back to court on April 21, the district attourney said.

The Bronx man fired several shots aimed at the back of a 25-year-old pedestrian who he didn’t know, but missed and instead shot an MTA Q8 bus about 9 a.m., Katz said
A bullet pierced through the windshield of the bus and struck two men, 66 and 20 years of age, who were then treated at a nearby hospital, prosecutors said.

The 66-year-old was grazed by the bullet and was treated for a laceration to his shoulders, while the 20-year-old required orthopedic surgery to remove bullet fragments and a repair to his arm with a 10-inch metal plate and screws, the district attorney said.
Police arrested Adams minutes after the shooting, where they recovered the loaded .40
caliber Smith & Wesson handgun used in the shooting, Katz said.
