The city Medical Examiner’s Office has not confirmed the cause of death, cops said.
The park is named for a rookie cop killed in the line of duty in 1988, according to the Parks department. Byrne’s death spurred the NYPD to create the successful Tactical Narcotics Team in South Jamaica, which has since been expanded citywide.
