NYC Parks Begins Reconstruction Of Maple Playground In Flushing
The $6.6 million dollar project in the park, located 136-50 Maple Avenue, will relocate the children's play area.

QUEENS — The city’s park department began renovating Maple Playground in Flushing on Monday, officially breaking ground on the project that aims to enlarge the children’s play area.
The $6.6 million dollar project in the park, located 136-50 Maple Avenue, will relocate the children’s play area to the shaded east side of the park.
“Maple Playground is an incredibly popular gathering spot,” said Council Member Sandra Ung. “On any given day, it is bustling with seniors playing mahjong, families relaxing with their children, and residents just looking for a little open space in this densely packed neighborhood in the heart of Flushing.

The playground will include playing equipment and swings for children ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12. The renovations also include a water play area, seating, an upgraded basketball court, and three new ping pong tables.
The existing drainage will be fully reconstructed to reduce ponding issues.
