Queens Neighborhoods With Some Of The Cheapest Roommate Rents

QUEENS — Crowded apartments aren’t uncommon in New York, especially for those looking to save extra cash on rent.
While Queens may have some of the cheapest neighborhoods for roommates to stay in, it also has some areas facing some of the biggest rent increases in the last year, according to roommate matching site SpareRoom.
Elmhurst and Woodside made the top of the list of the cheapest neighborhoods across Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn.

The average monthly roommate rent in Elmhurst was $881 by the end of 2022, while the rent reached $967 in Woodside.

Long Island City and Jamaica were among the top 10 neighborhoods with the highest monthly rent increase throughout the year, ticking up to $2,053 and $1,316, respectively.
Roommate rent in Manhattan was up nine percent by the end of 2022, to $1,784, while Brooklyn’s rent increased 18 percent to $1,431.
